Looking Back, Looking Head

My thought of this class was that I was going to learn basic technology to teach children in the classroom and that was all. Surprise surprise! I came to learn much more than basic Technology to teach children in the classroom. Technology is everywhere and I was exposed to it all the time,but I did not see it before. Now that I know how important it is to teach children about Technology and make them think critically about the things they want makes me feel good about myself because in the future I will be teaching and introducing those little ones to Technology. I believe that as educators it is our job and responsibility to teach our children about Technology the right way. Taking TIE300 opened my eyes to the world of Technology and the great benefits and opportunities that everyone can have.

Taking this class was the best thing to do because I learned so much. I keep learning every day thanks to my professor Nicole because she is the one that opened my eyes to the world of Technology, and let me now that as a student and teacher to be I am not alone in the field.Having a blog and sharing beautiful things to do with children can help one another. it will be my job to keep posting interesting blogs on my page and share them so everyone can have access to it. My professor teach all of us very important tools to use in the classroom and how to use them as professionals. I feel confident that now I know many ways to introduce Technology in the classroom with all the tools I learned in class. I can picture my self-teaching with confidence about Technology to children.

I just want to thank my Professor Nicole for your time and for teaching me how to use many tools and how to incorporate them in the classroom. It was a very short time I wish we would of have a little more time but I understand perfectly how it is. The one tool that stands out more for me is Twitter because I did not want to have another account! well, I am pretty sure I will be using it a lot because its a very useful.

Media Literacy

What is Media Literacy?

Media Literacy is the ability to access,analyze.evaluate,create, and act using all all forms of communications interdisciplinary by nature. I  have to say that I was very impressed to know that the companies can manipulate a picture to their convenience to sell their products by  media. I did not know that all their TV commercial were to get the peoples attention and make them want their products only because of their brand. I have to say not only the adult people like me  but even the young ones. I was not questioning anything I was buying. After class on Thursday I was shock because I had on my mind that the commercials with their products were informing only about good benefits for us.  I believe that children should be taught about Media Literacy  because no one can hide it from  the children. You can be exposed to it in many  different ways  and you can  find it everywhere you go.

Once you teach children about Media Literacy I am sure they will be questioning about the products that the companies and their commercials are offering and selling  to them. When the  company wants to market a new product they will want to get the attention of everyone. who ever is in charge of making the commercials sell their  product  it will be presented so  beautifully that  they will make  belief many people it is perfect specially children. I want to share with  everyone the truth about  a couple of restaurants that sell fast food. I am mother of four children and I witness how my children eyes look so happy watching a commercial about fast food or toys. I believe children are been targeted  from the media.  Media Literacy in the classrooms is very beneficial for the children to be more knowledgeable. teaching children about Media Literacy is  making children to think critically on deciding whats best for them. also when children need to  do a research paper children will be ask about what kind of Media Literacy  were used to to the assignment. so yes Media Literacy be tough in the classroom soon as possible.

Starting a PLN on Twitter

Participating on twitter for me was a wonderful experience,but at first, I was a little confused because  I was not sure if I was in the right phat.When my professor at the University  I am  attending now told me that I needed a twitter account I thought why do I need a  twitter account?!. To me was enough already having Facebook and my thoughts to myself were  I do  not  need another network account. It was required to have a twitter account in the class and I am glad  and thankful to my Professor because without her I wouldn't be following  lots of professional teachers on twitter.


It was amazing how can you join the chat without knowing anyone and everyone were so welcoming  with me and all the professionals who were new in it. Having a twitter account and been able to participate in a chat with many  teachers made me feel special and see all the beneficial opportunities that teachers share with one another. The minute I started to do my assignment and created my account on twitter  I started to follow  teachers around the world  and build my PLN assignment.  I did not have an idea that teachers  were able to  share their amazing projects with one another and I have to say that I am loving it.I can not wait to start sharing my projects too! for now, I  do not have much to share but soon I will be sharing my projects with the teachers around the world.


I will be joining the chat and learn a lot also I will be suggesting  the teachers that I am working with for now to try the amazing projects that other teachers are sharing  on twitter.I do not have much experience with  projects because I am still  a student but I know soon I will be able to share and try so many projects. If you want to start your PLN twitter it is a great placed to start I found that it is a great resource for teachers. if you ever need ideas or want  to share your own projects you can just create your account on twitter. I know my next chat on twitter will be a better  one because  I am willing to answer questions and ask questions too. I am very new on twitter and it is amazing I will continue using my twitter account.

Digital Tattoo

What is a Digital Tatoo?
I  was not aware what  a Digital Tattoo was and it is very important to know what it is. It is our personal identity Digital Tattoo. It is  the permanent online data about us that is available online and everyone can have access to it. I was very surprised to find out that anyone can see you. We are building our  own personal Digital Tattoo every time we  post a picture, a blog a tweet  we are adding to  our personal identity Digital tattoo.I was in shock! when I got to know about Digital Tattoos. I am a mother and of course, I am happy to have the knowledge now and  explain to my children so that way, I can help them make good choices about posting online.


When was in class I had to do an assignment and this consisted in searching  for a person online and have to say that I felt weird  like a stalker! I know that not only a stalker can search for you now,but that was my thought in the classroom as I was searching for all the information of this person. I learned  that I need to think before posting online and keep creating my own personal identity Digital Tattoo. After completing the assignment and now knowledgeable about Digital Tattoos, I want to try to search for my own personal Digital Tatoo but, I am not going to lie I am a little afraid to do it. I can  not wait to see how my Personal Digital Tattoo looks like!.good thing but it can be a bad thing too

Creating your personal identity  Digital Tattoo can be a good thing for you because it can cause an  impression  on people around you especially if it is for a job or people that want to know about you more. Build you own personal identity Digital Tattoo and impress the people who love you and people who want to know you better. be aware that you can cause a bad impression if you do not choose to think twice about posting online and creating your personal identity Digital Tattoo. I learned that you can google yourself now and again to review your profiles on any social network you use because sometimes is hard to keep track of everything you post online.

Lesson

The Kindergarten lesson will consist of  Introducing the children  to measurements telling the children to think about  attributes  on an object inside the classroom and exploring length. The class for that day will be about measurement frames. During the morning  we will read a book then we will discuss what is  the length, and the weight of the objects we see in the pictures of the book.  The children will be asked to choose two things and compare their length which is longer  or which is shorter?. Why that make you think that about that object. We will continue learning about our measurements and will be followed by the use of the  iPod  so the children can play a game called measurement center frame and  each of them will be able to identify which of the objects in the game are  longer, shorter, taller ,heavier lighter,  than  for about fifteen minutes then they will choose a partner so both of them can discuss about the  objects  that they were playing  before on their iPods  the  children will be provided with a measuring tape so they can be able to measure the things around the classroom using a paper and a pencil the children will be asked to draw a picture of an object that is longer, shorter, taller, and  to write which of the objects that they choose to measure  are heavier or lighter than others. I will be around assisting  the children who need  help and make sure they are  on task and they understood their assignment. After 15 or 20 minutes we will meet at the rug and see what kind of objects  each partner measured and if they can tell which are the attributes of that object and how many they were able to draw.

• The first stage of Technology  is  the Entry Stage

This Stage is the first Stage of integration when the teachers have to gain basic skills on computers before the teacher can incorporate the technology in the classroom.

• Adoption is the second Stage

this is the Stage where teachers are using some Technology in the classroom ,but  not every day.

• Adaptation is the third Stage

 this Stage is when teachers are using Technology in the classroom regularly.

• Appropriation is the fourth Stage

 This Stage is when teachers are using Technology inside the classroom and outside the classroom the teachers are using it as a tool to learn.

• Invention is the fifth stage 

This Stage is when the teachers are creating new ways for integrating Technology inside and outside  the classroom using it as a tool to learn,also adding it to their personal skills.

Wow!!

I will be using and Integrating Technology  in the classroom. I personally love my job right now because it lets me learn a little more of what I, need to do with the children later when I become a teacher. I am learning a lot in the classroom I am right now because the teacher integrates  Technology in  the classroom with the children. the children use I-pads in the classroom to learn their letters  and at the same time, they are playing.  In the classroom  also, the children are able to practice their letter  and sing the A,B,Cs song.I personally do not know a lot about Technology all this is very new for me.

 Although  I believe Technology is very important because I live  thru my cellphone every day I use my cell phone for everything and sometimes  upsets me  because the battery dies on me. I am in contact with my family and friends and when it dies I feel that I am missing  lots of  important stuff.  I had an emergency and I had to go out of state. The  internet on my cell phone it is very slow and besides that I lose the charger for my cell phone. I felt lost and couldn't do nothing until I call  my husband using  the  telephone from the hospital. I needed to charge my cell phone and see everything that I had missed while been without my cell phone.

I use Technology very often because I need to do my homework and check my spelling on it too. But like I said  I need to learn a lot more because it is frustrating not knowing what to do when you need to create  a page that you have never heard about.In my opinion, the first Stage  of Technology its the most difficult Stage because  even if we know that it is safe it depends on the websites and tools that we use. I believe that it will be very difficult for people that do not use Technology  and are not open-minded because it will be very difficult to  update them selfs with the world nowadays. Teachers need to integrate the Technology in the classroom or otherwise they will be missing a lot of  opportunities and they might be replaced by teachers  more knowledgeable in Technology.

Active Learning

Active learning can be spontaneous play planned, purposeful play events and life experiences. Active learning  is experiential, mindful engaged in  active learning activities because it challenges their thinking and  their imagination in real life.In the classroom, The children are Active and learning at the same time in the classroom exploring everything around them and learning from every center they choose to play with.




Two weeks ago we talk about  play Doh, how can we make it in the classroom  and add the color we like. The children were excited about it.  The next day of school we bring the materials to do the play Doh with the children. Ms. Carly and I provide the children with a cup of water, a cup of flour, less than half of cup of baby oil, and two spoons of salt. We explained to the  children that they needed to mix all the materials and they did it at the same time Ms. Carly and I were asking questions about the texture of the mixed material. some of the children said that as they were mixing the materials it was hard and as they continue mixing it started to get soft. They looked so interested as soon as we seen that the play Doh was ready  Ms.Carly offered color red, pink,yellow, blue and orange and each of them picked   their  own color.

 After the children  were done making the play Doh they clean their spots and wash their hands  the children could not wait to play with the play Doh  they were able to make letters.numbers,figures of dolls and even fruits and food.We had and amazing day learning how to make play Doh, stimulating their  fine motor and at the same time learning letters and names. I am still learning with the children and we are active learning every day. I love seen the way they explore in the classroom and the way they ask questions to me or Ms.Carly.  I always  extend their questions and make them think a little more of whatever they ask. The benefits of active learning  are that they learn from everything around them is the direct and immediate experiencing people, objects, ideas , and events.

In class I had the oportunity to experience the active learning as it was a team assignment and, I want to say it was a greate experience in class working with such and amazing classmate.
